Tuesdays: Triad Job Search Network of Greensboro/High Point is a job support group for unemployed professionals that meets from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Covenant United Methodist Church, 1526 Skeet Club Road in High Point. Tuesdays: Professionals in Transition of Greensboro, a nonprofit support and job networking group, meets weekly from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the West Market Street United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 302 W. Market St. in Greensboro. Participants can enter at Commerce and Friendly avenues. PIT was founded in 1992 and has assisted more than 3,000 unemployed or underemployed people. Wednesdays: JobTalk & Java, 10am, Central Library, 219 North Church Street, Greensboro. Library features timely and relevant topics of discussion, online tools for employment, support and networking. Job Skills/employment Organizations New Choices -Strategies for Success. The Women's Resource Center offers a 40 hour pre-employment program designed for women aged 24-64 who are divorced, widowed, separated, or housewives who have been dependent on the income of another family member which is no longer available to them. Displaced homemakers experiencing difficulty obtaining or upgrading employment will benefit from this program. Upon completion participants are eligible for financial assistance towards further training such as GTCC Quick Jobs. Financial assistance towards childcare and transportation is available for eligible participants. Job Search Skills Workshop — Participants learn the latest skills required for a successful Job Search including preparing resumes and applications, interview skills, job contacts including Internet postings. Participants are alsointroduced to valuable services available through Job Link and GTCC. The workshop is free to qualified individuals. Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon at JobLink, 303 N. Raleigh St., Greensboro and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon at Employment Security Commission Office, 919 Phillips Ave., High Point.

Pathways To Employment — GTCC provides training in the latest skills required for a successful job search in today's workforce. Participants can receive assistance in creating or revising resumes and cover letters, working on interview skills and tending to job applications. Participants are guided through materials that discuss the connection between interests and job performance. Career interest inventories aregiven and reviewed and then explored on the Internet. his training is valuable to job seekers who are looking for ways to enhance their job search skills and/or to retool their careers. Pathways To Employment is free to qualified individuals. Classes are held Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon at JobLink, 303 N. Raleigh St., Greensboro.

Goodwill Industries of Central NC Inc. Community Resource Centers provide services for individuals seeking employment opportunities and training to boost employability. Services are available for all job seekers living in and around Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham and surrounding counties. All centers offer resume assistance, Internet access to search for job leads, computer labs for computer practice, and career counseling services, and other employment resource information.

The Jobs On The Outside (JOTO) program is a new initiative designed to lend specialized assistance to ex-offenders/job seekers with criminal histories in obtaining job training and job search assistance. To access the services provided by JOTO, please contact your local probation/parole office or visit one of the Community Resource Centers for additional information.

The Community Resource Center of Asheboro located at 1064 East Dixie Drive offers the following classes: GED/ABE; English as a Second Language; Money Smart; Basic Computer; Software for Career Development; Internet and E-Mail for the World of Work; Interviewing, Resume Writing and How to Properly Complete a Job Application; Unemployment: Understanding the Grieving Process; and Balancing Work and Parenting. The Community Resource Center of Greensboro, located at 1235 South Eugene Street, offers a weekly Job Preparedness Class held each Wednesday through Tuesday 9:00am to 4:00pm. Other classes include Money Smart and Basic Computer. Other services are available depending upon need and sponsorship by community partner agencies. The Community Resource Center of Reidsville, located at 1551 Freeway Drive, offers the following classes: GED/ABE, English as a Second Language, Employability Skills, Money Smart, Basic Computer, and Software for Career Development. The Job Search Boot Camp meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 1:00-3:00 pm and provides an opportunity to network and gain access to information pertinent to job seekers.
